December 14 - Update

December 14, 2023
Good morning, Colleagues,

My November communication marked the official launch of the CHP Dean Search and I now have an opportunity to provide you with updates to set the stage for what comes next.

As you all know, we are actively sourcing top prospects and we ask that you continue to share the position description and leadership profile. It is imperative that we develop a strong candidate pool with varied backgrounds to present to the CHP community. As I mentioned before, nominations and inquiries about the application process should be directed to Amy Carr (Amy.Carr@vcuhealth.org).

I also want to take this opportunity to relay my expectations and commitment to ensuring you all have an opportunity to provide your insight, perspective, and feedback on the candidates that are brought forth through this search process. I know there is a collective desire for CHP to build on an already strong foundation and achieve new heights. To that end, we will lean on you to share your input, and will provide ample opportunity for you to engage in the process. These opportunities will include community wide candidate presentations, key stakeholder meetings (e.g. associate dean meetings, Chair meetings, faculty groups, staff groups, and student groups) and feedback forms to capture key insights.

As for the timeline, the search committee is slated to come back together in early January to begin reviewing applicants. We already have over 20 applicants despite being very early in the sourcing process, and finalists should be on campus in early Spring. I will continue to provide updates via your CHP Home Page, but please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any additional questions or concerns. As the semester comes to a close, I am wishing you all the best of the holiday season and a restful winter break.

Best regards,

K.C. Ogbonna - Search Chair
