Our team

Dr. Coogle serves as the Director of Research for the Virginia Center on Aging. She is also the Director of Evaluation for the Virginia Geriatric Education Center, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Gerontology at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). She teaches the research methods course in VCU’s Bachelor of Science in Health Services program. She has administered the Alzheimer’s and Related Diseases Research Award Fund for the Commonwealth of Virginia for well over 30 years. She is a former Chair of the Virginia Governor's Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Commission, and Past President of the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Richmond. An accomplished experimental psychologist, Dr. Coogle is a fellow in the Gerontological Society of America and a past President of the Southern Gerontological Society. Her current interests include geriatric education, substance abuse and misuse in older adults, assisted living violations, and the direct care workforce crisis.
