Faculty Bio

Prior to assuming his role as Assistant Professor and Clinical Coordinator for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, Parker spent 7 years as a diagnostic medical sonographer in a variety of clinical settings, including academic hospitals, outpatient imaging centers, and private institutions.  He has also served as an affiliate clinical preceptor for PVCC’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.  Parker is actively involved in multiple professional organizations - serving as a member of the Pediatric Sonography Examination Leadership Committee with the ARDMS, member of the Sonography Examination Committee with the ARRT, item writer/review with both the ARRT and ARDMS, and he is a peer reviewer for the Journal of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.  Parker is also pursing a doctoral degree in Radiation Sciences at VCU with an anticipated completion by 2022.

Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, Ultrasound Physics, Vascular Ultrasound, Anatomy and Physiology 

 

Research Interests

Elastography/Contrast applications in musculoskeletal ultrasound, Artificial Intelligence applications in ultrasound, Sonography education, Professional development best practices for Sonographers 

 

Hobbies/Interests 

Spending time with family and friends, soccer (Manchester United!!), discovering new wines, and exploring historical sites
