Dr. Kris Schulz received her Doctorate in Public Health from Loma Linda University (Community-based Participatory Research/CBPR) and her Masters in Public Health (Epidemiology) from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Schulz started KAS Consulting, LLC in 2020 and serves as the Principal. For over 20 years, primarily in academic research faculty roles (at Duke University Health System and Virginia Commonwealth University), Schulz has led the entire process research development process – faculty development/mentoring for grants; opportunity identification; writing and submitting grants and proposals to the NIH, PCORI, AHRQ, DoD, DHHS, DoE, foundations, industry and individual donors; presenting to both small to large audiences (including national and international research conferences); and overseeing the carryout of funded initiatives and producing reports and manuscripts. Prior to her academic research faculty roles, Schulz served as the Chief Research Officer for the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. During her career, she has been the co-I or PI of 6 funded initiatives totaling over $10M, and the team lead/methodologist/grant writer for dozens of initiatives totaling close to $80M. She has 45 publications in peer reviewed journals, ¼ of which as first or senior author. Schulz holds adjunct positions at Duke (Adjunct Associate Professor) and VCU (Adjunct Faculty/Research Consultant).
