Professional interests

Benjamin Darter is the Chair and an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Virginia Commonwealth University and a Research Physical Therapist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Central Virginia Veterans Healthcare system (Richmond VA medical center). His primary research and clinical interests are in the areas of rehabilitation following extremity amputation, optimization of gait performance, and overall health promotion. His research is funded by the Department of Defense and the Department of Veteran Affairs. He teaches courses in Orthotics and Prosthetics, and Applied Exercise Physiology in the entry level Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
