Bio

Originally from Jordan, Anood immigrated to Richmond, Virginia, with her family at a young age. She attended VCU and earned her BS in Biology and MS in Clinical Laboratory Science with a concentration in hematology. During her time in the graduate program, she assisted undergraduate MLS students in laboratory sessions as a part of the health education practicum. She presented several hematology lectures on topics of leukocyte maturation, hemoglobin catabolism, hemostasis evaluation, renal diseases, and benign hematologic reactions. Her research project involved an assessment of a Sysmex hematology analyzer's detection of immature leukocytes in peripheral blood.

Following graduation, Anood received her Scientist in Hematology certification through the ASCP and worked as a Medical Technologist in the hematology laboratories at VCU Health and HCA's CJW medical center. In the clinical setting, she focused on process improvement, instrumentation validation and troubleshooting, clinical training, and delivering efficient, high-quality patient care. She returned to VCU's MLS department in December 2025 as Program Manager and aims to support students entering the profession and workforce. Her academic interests include hematologic malignancies, hemolytic anemias, and hemoglobinopathies.
