VCU Winter Break
Pathology in Renaissance Art
The College of Health Professions in collaboration with VCU School of the Arts and Department of History offer a study abroad course entitled “Pathology in Renaissance Art”. Travel to the Italian cities of Siena, Florence and Rome to discover representations of pathology in renaissance art while living “la dolce vita”, the sweet life. Explore topics in art, pathology, observation, and history relating to the Renaissance period in Italy, where history whispers through ancient ruins, where art and culture thrive, and where every street feels like stepping into a living masterpiece. Discover the historic heart of Siena; the heart of the Renaissance in Florence; and end where all roads lead…the eternal city of Rome.
Program Dates: Friday, January 2 - Saturday, January 10, 2026.
Please note, students will depart the U.S. on January 1st to arrive in Italy on January 2nd.

VCU Spring Break
Germany and France: Discovering the Pioneers of Medical Imaging
The Global Education Office and the College of Health Professions Department of Radiation Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University would like to invite students to study the History of Radiation Sciences through a tour of sites significant to Radiation Science in Germany and France. The program will emphasize early radiation discoveries and the historical figures behind the science. Lectures will be given by museum staff and Professor of Radiation Sciences, Jessica Koroma.

Amsterdam: Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) Spring Break Scholars
The Global Education Office and the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) at Virginia Commonwealth University are pleased to offer the MLS Spring Break Scholars program. This program will take place in Amsterdam, a city that is rich in science. This program is designed for MLS students to apply their scientific knowledge in an engaging environment. Participants will visit Micropia, Body Worlds, Rijksmuseum, and other academic exhibitions. This is a unique opportunity for students to learn about the complexities of the human body in an immersive and interactive format.
