Jerrol “Jay” Wallace, DNP, CRNA, CAPT, USN, NC, FAANA

Jerrol “Jay” Wallace, DNP, CRNA, CAPT, USN, NC, FAANA, is adjunct faculty in the Department of Nurse Anesthesia. Dr. Wallace is an active-duty Captain in the United States Navy and has been serving for over 31 years. He graduated from Uniformed Serves University of the Health Sciences in 2007. Currently, he is the Commandant, Graduate School of Nursing (GSN) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) as the senior military leader and Assistant Professor for the Nurse Anesthesia Program. 

Dr. Wallace remains active professionally at the state and national level within the field of anesthesia. He held offices as Secretary, President-Elect, and President for the Virginia Association of Nurse Anesthetists (VANA). He served on the Education Committee and Bylaws Committee for the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, item writer for the Continued Professional Practice task force for the NBCRNA, an onsite reviewer for the Council on Accreditation for Nurse Anesthesia Education, and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Most recently he completed his term as Education Director for the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs as is currently the District 1 Director for VANA. His research interests are in stigma, women’s health, obstetrics and regional anesthesia and is a PhD Candidate at the University of Arizona with a tentative graduation date of August 2024. 

Operationally, Dr. Wallace served two tours in the Middle East, two aircraft carriers as the sole anesthesia provider, and as the Officer in Charge twice, most recently in Iraq and during a COVID mission in Tacoma Park, Maryland. Dr. Wallace practices in a multitude of anesthesia settings to include Military Treatment Facilities, CRNA only practices, and Anesthesia Care Team models.
