Bio:
As an occupational therapist, Dr. Winship believes that engaging in meaningful occupation - those things that we not only need to do (getting dressed, managing medications, etc), but also those things that we want to do (going to the park with the grandkids, playing cards with a friend), is essential for our health and wellbeing. As a community engaged researcher and clinician, Dr. Winship’s work focuses on reducing disparities in occupational engagement among low-income, community-dwelling older adults. In 2022 Dr. Winship founded the nonprofit organization, Richmond Aging and Engaging, to support low-income older adults aging in place through programming focused on building social connections, ensuring access to meaningful activities, and fostering a sense of purpose.
