Matthew (Matt) S. Krauchunas, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health Administration Department. In 2011, he graduated VCU with his PhD in Health Services Organization & Research. He was subsequently assigned as an Assistant Professor for the Army-Baylor MHA/MBA Program (2010-2013) focusing on Finance and Quantitative Analysis courses. He was also the Army-Baylor MHA/MBA Interim Program Director for one year.
Before joining VCU, Colonel (Ret.) Krauchunas served on active duty for over 32 years retiring in December of 2021. He spent the last 21 years of his United States Air Force service as a health care administrator across various inpatient, outpatient, deployed, “corporate”, and academic settings. He has operational experience in supply chain management, facilities management, medical equipment repair, information systems, resource management, human resources, patient administration, aeromedical evacuation, and ancillary services. After his military retirement, he worked for WellMed (a United Health Group subsidiary) as a Senior Clinical Program Manager and Director of Clinical Innovation.
