Rhonda Chapman, is a Clinical Coordinator and Instructor in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences. A Louisiana native, Rhonda received her master’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from Virginia Commonwealth University. During her academic career, she presented her research on cardiovascular disease risk, and instructed hemoglobin catabolism, iron metabolism, and body fluid analysis topics. After graduation, Rhonda served over seven years in laboratory leadership roles at HCA, where she developed expertise in clinical training, personnel management, and operational optimization. She joined the VCU faculty in 2024, bringing a wealth of experience in health care and laboratory operations, and following her passion for advancing education for laboratory professionals and ensuring accessible clinical pathways for students.
Professional Development and Teaching Philosophy
Rhonda’s commitment to quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and process improvement in clinical laboratory settings has significantly enhanced the performance of the organizations she has served. Now, as an instructor in the Medical Laboratory Sciences program at VCU, Rhonda is excited to share her experience with the next generation of health care professionals. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, and empowering students to excel in their future careers.
