Our team

In addition to her role as an Adjunct Faculty Instructor with the VCU College of Health Professions, Shirley LT Helm serves as the Senior Administrator for Network Capacity and Workforce Strategies at VCU’s Wright Regional Center for Clinical and Translational Science. With over 25 years of clinical research experience, Shirley has managed a core clinical research laboratory, overseen research participant testing and education, facilitated institutional clinical research resource outreach and collaboration, and fulfilled various administrative and operational roles within the clinical research ecosystem. She earned her undergraduate degree at Bucknell University, a master’s degree in immunology from VCU and holds certification as a Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP).
A committed lifelong learner, Shirley recently completed the VCU Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Clinical Research, a program she was instrumental in developing. She co-founded and currently chairs the Central Virginia Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) chapter, is an active member of the SOCRA CCRP certification item writing committee and serves on the SOCRA Board of Directors.
