Trisha Sando

Trisha Sando, PT, DPT, PhD

Trisha Sando is an assistant professor and assistant director of clinical education in the Department of Physical Therapy. She is a certified wound specialist through the American Board of Wound Management. Her primary clinical interest is wound care and she sees patients at Retreat Doctors' Hospital in Richmond, VA. She has also practiced in the acute care and critical care settings. 

Dr. Sando teaches cardiopulmonary physical therapy, clinical medicine and clinical education. Dr. Sando's research interests center around using epidemiological methods to optimize physical therapy outcomes, specifically pertaining to wound management and patients in the acute care setting. Currently, she is collaborating with colleagues at VCU Health to better understand factors that contribute to readmission rates of those with heart failure.
