Description: We knew about the harmful effects of ageism on our health and well-being long before the pandemic, but COIVD-19 has made ageism in our society much more visible. Join Dr. Tracey Gendron and Jennifer Pryor for a conversation about how we must respond to this opportunity to disrupt ageism in our society and what that can mean for our elderhood.

1:00pm-3:00pm.    Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences

Title: Please join the Department of Medical Lab Sciences Alumni Reunion as they feature a Virtual Lab Tour followed by a Panel discussion with medical professionals, faculty and students.

Description: The Virtual Tour at 1 pm, given by current MLS faculty, will feature presentations of the lab’s newest equipment, including the Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS) system, the real-time PCR instrument, and the audio/visual equipment used for teaching MLS students.

At 2pm, the panel discussion will examine the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the MLS profession. Topics will include the challenges of teaching, both in the classroom and in clinical rotations. The panel will discuss how the MLS profession has been in the forefront of healthcare, and how this will impact addressing shortages in the laboratory professions.

Department of Physical Therapy

1:00pm-2:00pm.    Title: MCV/VCU School of Physical Therapy: 50 years wasn’t so long ago-let’s celebrate!

Description: A brief synopsis of where we’ve been, a year of transition, and future dreams. There will be a short video of our new building, introductions of current faculty (and hopefully a new chair), current Physical Therapy curriculum, and areas of research.
