October 25 - The Power of Play: Improv and Elderhood

Wednesday, October 25 from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm
College of Health Professions, Room 1075

Want to learn how "improv" can serve your goals as a healthcare professional? Improv is just as relevant as "IRL" (in real life) as it is on stage. You don't have to be an actor! You don't have to be funny! Gerontologist John Countryman invites you to join him for his workshop, The Power of Play: Improv and Elderhood, an opportunity to learn some "applied" improvisation.

It's all about the power of playfulness and improv to improve (see what we did there?) quality of life for elders, address isolation and loneliness, strengthen interpersonal relationships and group practice, and equip care partners (that's you!) to best serve the older population, including those living with dementia. And we guarantee you'll have some fun in the bargain!

John Countryman, MA, MS, PhD, is an adjunct faculty member and alum of the Department of Gerontology. He is the founder of Storying Later Life and also serves as a Lifelong Learning Coordinator for The Shepherd's Center of Richmond.
